Description:

  • There are two scholarships for each of the following countries: Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar; all are issued by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Thailand
  • The scholarship covers necessary expenses connected with the residence and study in the Czech Republic for the duration of the studies (full scholarship, you do NOT have to apply every year).
  • The Czech authorities do not cover the transport costs from the scholarship holder’s home country to the Czech Republic and back at the end of the study, regardless the reason for which the study has ended.
  • Scholarships appear to be in Czech language, though you can apply to study Czech language under this scholarship for one year prior to the start of the university program at Charles University in Prague. A foreign national who applies for the scholarship of the government of the Czech Republic for studies at a public institution of higher education and who has no knowledge of the Czech language can receive a scholarship for a special one year language and foundation studies course at the Institute of Language and Foundation Studies of Charles University. The training centres are in Podebrady and Marianske Lazne. The emphasis is laid on acquiring communication skills, special terminology and mastering the language of those subjects of study necessary for a chosen study programme. The courses do not run during the main summer vacation period i.e. in July and August. At the end of the language and foundation study course the student is required to pass successfully the entrance examination, the scope and contents of which is designed by the respective faculty or higher education institution.
  • The Bachelor’s study programme aims primarily at the preparation for a profession, in which current level of knowledge, facts and methods are immediately used. The standard length of study programme including practical training is 3 years as a minimum and 4 years as a maximum. The study is finished by a final state examination, part of which of is usually the defence of a bachelor thesis. The graduates are awarded the academic degree of “bakalář” (Bachelor) abbr. Bc. and an equivalent academic degree “bakalář umění” (Bachelor of Arts) abbr. BcA. in the field of arts (used before name).
  • The Master’s study programme, which is more oriented to theoretical knowledge based on contemporary level of scientific knowledge, research and development, application skills and promoting the potential of creativity. The standard length of study program is 4 years as a minimum and 6 years as a maximum. The Master’s study programme can be a gradual continuation of the Bachelor’s programme, in such a case the standard length of study is 2 years as a minimum and 3 as a maximum. The study course is completed by passing the final state examination, part of which is a defence of the diploma thesis. The study courses of medicine, veterinary medicine and hygiene are completed by passing the state rigorous examination.
  • The Doctor´s study programme concentrates on scientific research and independent activity in a given research or development area or deals with independent theoretical and creative activity in the field of art. The standard length of sturdy is 3 years. The study programme is carried out according to the individual study plan under the supervision of an advisor. It is completed by a state doctoral examination and the defence of a dissertation, which is supposed to bring original and published results or results accepted for publishing. The pre-condition for admission to a Doctor’s study programme is a completion of a Master’s study course. The graduates are awarded the academic degree “doctor” (Doctor), abbr. as PhD. (used after name), in the field of theology “doktor teologie” (Doctor of Theology), abbr. Th.D. (used after name).
  • Higher education institutions in the Czech Republic offer the following branches of study: technical, technological, mathematical and physical (mechanical engineering, textile engineering, chemical technology, electrical engineering, information technology, mining and geology, nuclear and physical engineering, civil engineering, transport systems, wood technology), medicine and natural sciences (medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, environmental sciences, forestry, horticulture, agriculture, tropical and subtropical agriculture), humanities (law, philology, philosophy, social sciences, theology), economics (economics and management, business studies), physical education and sport. Especially recommended is the study at the specialised Institute of Tropical and Sub-tropical Agriculture of the Czech Agriculture University in Prague. The institute offers the following study courses: economics and management of agriculture, farm engineering, tropical and sub-tropical plant and livestock production. The study branch of Footwear and Leather Goods Technologies offered by the Faculty of Technology at the Tomas Bata University in Zlin is also recommended. At present there is no other faculty, in EU or elsewhere in the world, which would provide complete accredited study programmes leading to Bachelor, Engineer and Doctor degrees in the field of leather industry. Due to different and time-intensive schedules of the entrance examinations and highly demanding talent tests at art schools and academies, is not recommended to accept apolication for government scholarships in such study branches like art, art architecture and pedagogy. Due to the current legal provision it is not possible to follow Doctor’s study programmes in clinical subjects of medicine but only in theoretical subjects. Such study programmes are oriented on research or development only and the student does not achieve medical specialization in his/her branch of study (attestation).
