IELTS Fast Facts:

  • Apply online or with forms from British Council
  • Apply in advance 5 weeks
  • British Council offers exams every month
  • There is no waiting list for the exam
  • The cost in Myanmar is 130,000  at the British Council
  • You can take IELTS only at BC in Yangon, but you can also register at British Council in Mandalay
  • Results take 13 days

General Information:

The ILETS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand academic institutions. American academic institutions are increasingly accepting IELTS for admissions purposes. The IELTS is offered in Myanmar at the British Council in Yangon.

The IELTS is jointly managed by The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), The British Council and IDP Education Australia: IELTS Australia, so you can contact any of these organizations for more information about the test.

Note: there is an academic version and a general proficiency version. If you are applying to universities, you must take the academic version.
