Scholarships for people from Myanmar

This category is restricted to scholarships specifically for people from Myanmar only or has places reserved for people from Myanmar. Usually you can compete for these scholarships if you are one of the following:

  • a Myanmar citizen (with citizenship, can get a Myanmar passport) currently living in or out of Myanmar
  • from Myanmar originally, but are now living somewhere else (i.e. you moved and do not have Myanmar citizenship or passport)
  • a refugee from Myanmar, but you will need to be able to legally study in another country either with a passport or other legal documentation

Waivers:

Some universities will give you a discount by reducing the price of tuition or other fees you would ordinarily be required to pay. Restrictions for waivers usually include the university where you can use them, or maybe the major that you are allowed to study if you want the discount. Waivers are often applied together with scholarship applications; be sure to check with your university if you are eligible for a waiver, as this will reduce the total cost of money you will need to apply for from a scholarship programme. Tuition fee waivers count as a ‘matching fund’ that some partial scholarship applications require.

Opportunities in Asia:

This is a reminder why you should consider all the great opportunities in Asia. Firstly, Asia is more cost-effective, which means you get high quality, but less cost than in the West. Many universities in Asia are considered by Westerners to be equivalent to Western degrees—not surprising when you consider many have Western staff and students! Asian universities may teach topics more relevant to Myanmar than in the West. Scholarships and visas are more easy to get for Asia than for the West. If you are certain you want to study in the West, please try to achieve your goals, but at least have a second option in Asia to consider! Have a read through the university profiles to see what great opportunities await you here in Asia! This website lists only quality universities so if your university is not listed, it may not be of high quality. Choose your university carefully.

If there are no scholarships for which you are eligible here, please return to the Scholarships page to browse through other categories of scholarships.
