Koç University, KU Graduate Programs under Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering

The Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering currently offers 38 programs to 500+ students from Turkey and 20+ other countries:

– 12 MSc with Thesis (research Masters)

– 14 MSc without Thesis (taught Masters)

– 12 Ph.D. programs (Doctoral programs)


The labs at Koç University are all state-of-the-art and our world-class faculty is young in general and very active in research. Conducting scientific and applied research, proposing policies in various arenas and disseminating academic knowledge in social, economic and legal spheres, Koç University’s research centers are a uniquely powerful dimension of the institution’s emphasis on research. Undergraduate students work alongside faculty members on research projects. These research activities enhance their creativity and acuity for research.   3. TOEFL or YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL Requirement (for those whose native language is not English)
    – TOEFL Internet Based: Minimum Score 80 (Exams taken in Turkey must be carried out at the State Universities.)
    – YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL: 80
  4. ALES scores (required for all Turkish nationals)
  5. GRE scores (required from Foreign students; optional for Turkish students)
  6. Official transcripts from all the universities attended

There exists a wide spectrum of financial aid and scholarship opportunities and packages for graduate students at the Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering. These include “KU Graduate Scholarship” funded by Koç University and “Project-based Graduate Scholarship” co-funded by external sources such as TÜBİTAK, EU, industry through projects and Koç University.

KU Graduate Scholarship:

KU Graduate Scholarship is a competitive MS and PhD scholarship opportunity. Applicants having excellent academic record and/or having high impact scientific publications are considered for KU Graduate Scholarship.

KU Graduate Scholarship includes the following stipend & benefits:

2020/2021 Academic Year Stipends (effective September 2020)
PhD Students:
  • Tuition waiver (96.500 TL/year)
  • Monthly stipend of 3.000 TL (Increases to 3.500 TL after the PhD qualifier)
  • Housing aid (750 TL/month) or free furnished housing (shared by 3-4 students) nearby campus
  • Private health insurance (limited coverage)
  • Meal Card
  • Free HGS (Fast Transit Pass) car stickers for campus entrance
  • Travel support (once a year, at yearly determined fixed amount) to attend scientific events
MS with thesis students:
  • Tuition waiver (96.500 TL/year)
  • Monthly stipend of 1.500 TL
  • Housing aid (750 TL/month) or free furnished housing (shared by 3-4 students) nearby campus (Graduate housing may be offered to the limited number of MS students depending on the availability of resources)
  • Private health insurance (limited coverage)
  • Travel support (once a year, at yearly determined fixed amount) to attend scientific events
Project-based Graduate Scholarship:

MS and PhD students are accepted to participate in specific research projects funded by external sources such as TÜBİTAK, EU, or industry. The stipend varies depending on the project. Koç University provides the same benefits for all Project-based Graduate Scholarships.

  • Tuition waiver (96.500 TL/year)
  • Monthly stipend  (depending on the project source; MS or PhD study)
  • Housing aid (750 TL/month) or free furnished housing (shared by 3-4 students) nearby campus (Graduate housing may be offered to the limited number of MS students depending on the availability of resources)
  • Private health insurance (limited coverage)
  • Meal Card (for PhD students only)
  • Free HGS (Fast Transit Pass) car stickers for campus entrance (for PhD students only)
  • Travel support (once a year, at yearly determined fixed amount) to attend scientific events

The applicants may apply until the beginning of Fall 2020 term (September 14th, 2020). Decisions will be announced within 2 weeks right after the submission of the application date.
