Yangzhou University (YZU) is co-sponsored by the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and the Ministry of Education of China. It is a key comprehensive university of Jiangsu Province, and one of the first authorized to grant both master’s and doctoral degrees. The history of YZU can be traced back to as early as 1902, when its predecessors, Tongzhou Private Teachers’ School and Tonghai Agricultural School, were established.
Based on the motto of being perseverant and self-reliant, YZU’s education features a rich legacy in humanities, advantages in agricultural sciences, integration of sciences and humanities, and a harmonious development of each major discipline. Currently there are over 25,000 full-time undergraduate students and more than 11,000 postgraduate students on YZU campuses, among which over 2,000 are overseas students. Among the 2,300 full-time teachers there are 2 Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. YZU’s 28 colleges offer 121 undergraduate programs, covering the 12 disciplines of philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management science and art. YZU has 3 national key disciplines, 22 first-level doctoral programs, and 47 first-level master’s programs. YZU’s overall competence as well as 7 disciplines, namely chemistry, plant and animal sciences, engineering, agricultural sciences, clinical medicine, material science and computer science, have entered ESI’s top 1% among worldwide universities and research institutions. YZU has constructed over 50 platforms for teaching and scientific research that are of ministerial or provincial level or above, including a Joint International Laboratory and a Research Center for Regional and Cross-nation Studies, and has set up close cooperation and exchange relations with more than 250 higher education institutions and research institutions in over 50 countries and regions.
Scholarship Category
1. Undergraduate Scholarship
Eligibility:
- International students who have already applied for YZU as Bachelor students;
- At least 18 years old, under the age of 25 (by May 30th, 2021);
- No other scholarship of its kind in China.
- Programs Available: International Business, Mechanical Design, & Manufacturing and Automation, Software Engineering, Civil Engineering, Tourism Management, Microelectronics Science and Engineering, Pharmacy, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages
- Scholarship Criterion: tuition and accommodation fee waiver. All applicants shall pay for other fees.
- Funding Duration: Shall not surpass standard academic study period. International students must attend the annual review organized by YZU. For those who fail the review, scholarship will be suspended or even cancelled.
Note: Scholarship can be applied at the same time with admission. Students who fail to be admitted by YZU as Bachelor students will not get scholarship.
2. Master Scholarship
Eligibility:
- International students who have already applied for YZU as Master students;
- At least 18 years old, under the age of 35 (by May 30th, 2021);
- No other scholarship of its kind in China.
- Programs Available: All YZU master degree programs
- Scholarship Criterion: tuition and accommodation fee waiver. 1500RMB living allowance each year (10 months).
- Funding Duration: Shall not surpass standard academic study period. International students must attend the annual review organized by YZU. For those who fail the review, scholarship will be suspended or even cancelled.
Note: Scholarship can be applied at the same time with admission. Students who fail to be admitted by YZU as Master students will not get scholarship.
3. PhD. Scholarship
Eligibility:
- International students who have already applied for YZU as PhD students;
- At least 18 years old, under the age of 45 (by May 30th, 2021);
- No other scholarship of its kind in China.
- Programs Available: All YZU doctoral degree programs
- Scholarship Criterion: tuition and accommodation fee waiver. 2500RMB living allowance each year (10 months).
- Funding Duration: Shall not surpass standard academic study period plus one year. International students must attend the annual review organized by YZU. For those who fail the review, scholarship will be suspended or even cancelled.
Note: Scholarship can be applied at the same time with admission. Students who fail to be admitted by YZU as PhD students will not get scholarship.
4. Preparatory Scholarship for Postgraduate Students
Eligibility:
- International students who have already been admitted by YZU as Master students or PhD students to receive preparatory education (Chinese learning).
- No HSK report (Level 4 or above);
- No other scholarship of its kind in China.
- Scholarship Criterion: For Master students, tuition and accommodation fee waiver, 1500RMB living allowance each year (10 months). For Ph.D. students, tuition and accommodation fee waiver, 2500RMB living allowance each year (10 months).
- Funding Duration: one academic year.
Note:
- Students should pass the HSK test (Level 4 or above) after one-year Chinese learning. For those who fail, academic study will be delayed until they pass the HSK test (Level 4 or above).
- Students should pay for relevant fees on their own during extension period.Students should apply after being admitted by YZU as Master students or PhD students (Chinese-taught programs) otherwise their application will not be accepted.
