2020 APFNet Scholarship for PhD Program at Northwest A&F University

Northwest A&F University (NWAFU) was founded in 1934. It is a national key comprehensive university directly under the jurisdiction of Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE). NWAFU is also a leading university in China, which is supported by the Chinese government “Project 985” and “Project 211”. The NWAFU is on the list of National Double First-class University   Plan and is completely equipped with disciplines of agriculture, forestry, and water science.

NWAFU covers disciplines of agriculture, science, engineering economics, business, liberal arts, law, philosophy,  history,medicine, education arts, etc. In accordance with national and regional strategic demands, NWAFU has conducted applied researches in areas of animal and plant breeding, plant protection, agricultural biology technology, agriculture and irrigation technology in dry areas. The comprehensive treatment to soil and water loss in Loess Plateau has stood out as its distinguished features and priorities. For now, 21,000 undergraduates and 9,683 postgraduates are studying at NWAFU.

Eligibility
  1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from developing APFNet member economies, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mexico, Fiji Islands, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Peru, the Philippines and Viet Nam
  2. Non-Chinese residents from Greater Central Asian countries, including Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan
  3. Age limitation:18 – 45
  4. The holder of a Bachelor’s degree
  5. At least 2 years of work experience are prioritized
  6. English Proficiency certificate, such as IELTS, TOFEL (all the courses of this program will be taught in English )

  8. Female applicants are encouraged to apply
  9. Graduation requirement: New HSK 3
Scholarship Coverage
  • Monthly Stipend of CNY 3,000
  • Accommodation on campus for twin room
  • Comprehensive medical insurance
  • One-time payment of 400 yuan per year for outpatient medical services, regardless of actual costs
  • One international trip with economy tickets between students’ home country and China

How to apply?

Step 1: Contact a potential supervisor to get an acceptance letter

The guidelines for finding a potential supervisor:

  1. View their profiles and read a couple of their publications to familiarize yourself with their work
  2. Write a email to them to indicate your awareness of their research and how it fits your interests (be specific, refer to their publications)
  3. Let them know your intention to apply for APFNet Scholarship Program and your interest in being supervised by them
  4. Tell them a couple of strong points about your background and who you’ve worked with on research projects

Step 2: Apply on the application platform https://nwsuaf.17gz.org/ and upload all required materials.(APFNet Scholarship are in the category of Northwest A & F University Scholarship.)

Step 3: Mail the documents:

  1. Two application forms with your signature (download form the application platform and sign)
  2. One acceptance letter from potential supervisor
  3. Notarized transcripts of the most advanced study (Chinese or English)
  4. Notarized diploma of the most advanced study (Chinese or English)
  5. Two letters of recommendation
  6. Study plan in China (more than 800 words)
  7. Publications (if you have)
  8. Photocopy of passport
  9. Certificate of police clearance
  10. Photocopy of physical examination record (download form http://is.nwsuaf.edu.cn/zlxz/321992.htm)
  11. Certificate of English Proficiency (TOFEL, IELTS) or Chinese Proficiency Certificate (HSK)
  12. Two photos of two inches
